Community Information:
Our streets are lined with hundreds of maple trees that amplify the beauty of our town in the fall and are celebrated each year during our Maple Leaf Festival. A town filled with traditions, we host the longest running Halloween parade in the nation with both a kiddie parade in the afternoon and the Grand Parade in the evening parade. Our downtown business district is home to a variety of locally owned shops, from grocery stores and local mechanics to a bar and grill and a movie theatre.
Our school district is considered one of the best in the state with Rhodes and Fulbright Scholars graduates. And when it comes to amenities, we are proud of our amazing parks with walking and fitness trails; City Lake; a County Museum; a Memorial Fountain; the aquatic park; a Community Center and the nationally recognized Davis Memorial. Tucked between the Kickapoo, Iowa, and Sac & Fox Indian Reservations in Northeast Kansas, we are less than an hour and a half from one of the largest urban areas of the state. We are most proud of our community – made up of the most welcoming and friendly Kansans who make this the best place to live, work, and raise a family.
