J-1 Visas in Illinois
If you want to obtain a J-1 Visa Waiver in Illinois, here’s what you need to do:
- Start your job search about 18 months prior to when you want to start working.
- Find a job at an eligible J-1 site in our state. You can search for J-1 eligible jobs on 3RNET. Start your J-1 job search in Illinois now.
- Connect with the J-1 contact to ask questions and learn about additional steps you may need to take.
Assistance is available to prospective applicants for the Conrad 30 J-1 Visa Waiver program. The Illinois Department of Public Health does not maintain a registry of available positions nor does it recruit providers for medical facilities.
Waiver applications are accepted from October 1 through October 31 of each year. If waiver positions exist after the October 31 submission deadline, new applications are accepted from January 1 through January 31.
