Community Information:
Our community was established in 1888 with the advent of the railway in the 1880s. Located less than 10 miles north of the Saline River, this Northwest Kansas town lies in the Smoky Hills region. This small-town hosts great outdoor amenities including a local swimming pool, playground, basketball court, a nine-hole golf course, and local Lake where you can fish or play nine holes of disc golf.
While agriculture and oil production are the heart of the economy, our community supports a hospital, public and parochial schools, a grocery store, multiple churches, and many small businesses. We are home to Brant’s Market, named one of the 8 Wonders of Kansas Commerce, providing handcrafted bologna and sausages since 1922. Other establishments include a local diner for the best burgers in Western Kansas, delicious Mexican fare, and a locally owned “Mom and Pop” coffee shop. Each year, enjoy the Paradise Creek Festival and Rodeo where you can enjoy various food vendors, arts and crafts, turtle races, a pancake feed, music, and two evenings of rodeo action. We are small town community living at its finest.
