In addition to a rigorous academic program, the school system offers a wide range of activities to facilitate development of individual interests. Vance-Granville Community College also serves the educational needs of the county by offering vocational, technical and college transfer programs on a year- round basis. Many recreational opportunities exist in Oxford and Granville County. Kerr Lake, which borders the County, has over 800 miles of shore line and nine state park areas, each of which have camping, swimming, boating and fishing access to the public. Oxford has a planned recreational program and is developing a public park, which will include a swimming pool, tennis and basketball courts, and picnic area. Country club membership is available with golf, tennis, swimming, dining and social activities. In addition, several game land areas in the country are open to the general public.
