Community Action Partnerships of Western Nebraska (CAPWN) is a non-profit community-based health and human services organization that serves low-income, disadvantaged and those unable to meet their needs through other sources.  The agency was established in 1965 and provides services to over 9,000 individuals, children and families in three main areas:
  • Community Health Services: WIC, Commodity Supplemental Food, Foster Grandparents, Migrant Seasonal Head Start, and Child Development Center.
  • Clinical Health Services: Primary Care, Reproductive Health, Diabetes Management, Immunizations, Migrant Health, Ryan White HIV; Behavioral Health including Counseling Services, Medication Management, Medication Assisted Treatment and Substance Use Counseling and Intensive Outpatient Services and Dental Services.  
  • Supportive Health Services: Family Stabilization, a Teen Outreach Program, SOAR, Youth Leadership Program, Youth Shelter and Housing Assistance Programs.

Behavioral Health Provider LIMHP/LMHP/PLMHP/PCMSW/LMFT/Psychologist

Full-time, Flexible daytime and evening hours. 

Reports to: Behavioral Health Clinical Manager

Areas of Responsibility: Assessing, diagnosing, and treating mental health and substance abuse disorders, creating, and adjusting treatment plans, offering therapy and crisis intervention, managing patient care, advocating for mental health awareness, and monitoring patient progress

Major Duties:

  1. Work with primary care teams to treat and manage patients with emotional and health problems efficiently and effectively.
  2. Provides direct clinical services to mental health clients, including intake, programmatic education, individual therapy, marital therapy, family therapy, child therapy, group therapy, substance use individual and group sessions and emergency services.
  3. Meets with clients on an emergency basis to evaluate dangerousness to self and others and make recommendations for further care.
  4. Completes intake assessment, collecting information and history on client to formulate
  5. provisional diagnosis, provide interpretive summary and complete documentation.
  6. Teach patients, families, and staff techniques to enhance their care, prevention, and treatment.  
  7. Provide substance abuse screening, education, and brief interventions.
  8. Refer patients to mental health specialists or substance abuse specialists as appropriate.
  9. Prepares and maintains treatment records and reports.
  10. Maintains confidentiality of client records pertaining to treatment.
  11. Participate in Quality Improvement/Quality Assurance efforts.
  12. Maintain current Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation certification (CPR).
  13. Participate in Clinical Behavioral Health on-call coverage schedule.
  14. Maintain confidentiality of records and communications following CAPWN policy and HIPAA privacy and security policies and procedures.

  16. Perform other duties as assigned.

 Working Conditions:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk or working at a computer.
  • Work is frequently stressful and requires the ability to meet tight timelines.
  • The noise level in the work environment is average.
  • Work must be completed with minimal supervision and requires self-motivated individual.
  • Clinic environment includes patient interaction, training, meetings, and community interaction.
  • Telehealth opportunities based upon client needs.
  • Well-lit, temperature-controlled clinical setting, with standard medical and office equipment available
  • May be potential for some evening, or on-call hours.
  • Occasional out of town travel may be required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to bend, stoop, swat, crouch, push and pull file drawers.
  • Fine manipulation of hands for repetitive action.
  • Operate office machines including computers and software including EMR.
  • Must regularly talk, hear, and have close vision ability.
  • Occasionally lifting and carrying up to 25 pounds.
  • Speaking and hearing are sufficient to communicate effectively by phone or in person, at normal volumes.

Minimum Qualifications:

Grade: 20

  1. Master’s degree in Social Work, Clinical Counseling, Psychology, or related field.
  2. Current Nebraska license or provisional license as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (PCMSW) or Licensed Mental Health Practitioner (PLMHP) or Licensed Mental Health Practitioner (LMHP) or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT); or Psychologist.
  3. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations.
  4. Knowledge of human behavior and performance; individual differences in ability, personality, and interests; learning and motivation; psychological research methods; and the assessment and treatment of mental health disorders.
  5. Knowledge of principles, methods, and procedures for diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of mental dysfunctions, and for career counseling and guidance.
  6. Knowledge of group behavior and dynamics, societal trends and influences, ethnicity, and cultures.
  7. Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services.

Grade: 21

  1. Meet qualifications above AND
  2. Licensed as a Clinical Social Worker or Licensed Mental Health Practitioner (LMHP) with one-two years’ experience in mental health counseling and/or substance abuse. 

Grade: 22

  1. Meet qualifications above AND
  2. Licensed as a Clinical Social Worker or Licensed Mental Health Practitioner (LMHP) with three - five years’ experience in mental health counseling and/or substance abuse. OR
  3. Licensed as Licensed Independent Mental Health Practitioner (LIMHP)

 Grade: 23

  1. Meet qualifications above AND
  2. Licensed as a Clinical Social Worker or Licensed Mental Health Practitioner (LMHP) with six plus years’ experience in mental health counseling and/or substance abuse. OR
  3. Licensed Independent Mental Health Practitioner with 1-2 years’ experience in mental health counseling and/or substance abuse.

Grade: 24

  1. Meet qualifications above AND
  2. Licensed as Independent Mental Health Practitioner with 3 or more years’ experience in mental health counseling and/or substance abuse.  

Grade: 25

  1. Meet qualifications above AND
  2. Ph.D. in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or related field
