From humble beginnings in 1981, the Health Center has grown from one site with five employees to four sites with over one hundred and sixty employees and an annual budget of approximately $17 million. Under the leadership and direction of the late CEO, Eric Taylor, SWLA Center for Health Services underwent many transformations including the addition of satellite sites in Crowley and Lafayette Louisiana.
The Flagship health center (facility) campus in Lake Charles is 56,000 sf. The facility houses thirty (30) examination rooms, nine (9) state of the art dental operatories, a medical laboratory, a full service pharmacy, a WIC department. health education classrooms and one of the best equipped Fitness Centers in the city of Lake Charles. Doors to our Crowley site, a 6,000 sf facility, opened in August 2009. The 26,000 sf Lafayette site opened in January 2012 and the 6,200 sf Oberlin site opened in 2014.
Together, we have four locations serving multiple parishes in Louisiana. SWLA Center for Health Services is honored to serve our community (patients) with respect and dignity as we strive to provide the highest quality health care. We use a patient-centered approach and we are accredited by the Joint Commission of Health care Organization since 2006.
